Portland Ad Federation - Website Redesign
Challenge
opus:creative offered to redesign the Portland Ad Federation website as part of the free hosting services provided by opus:interactive. The client needed to preserve the current purchasing and member history while looking for a fresh and professional look and feel.
Solution
The team decided that not only should the new website have a new look and feel but it should be redesigned from the ground up. The original website was programmed using ColdFusion 3.0 with a MySQL database. The opus:creative technical team wished to build the system in VisualBasic.NET with a MS Sql Server 2000 database. Also we wanted to add new features to the website like an online forum, more robust portfolio and member directory and a new member registration process.
Results
The client was very excited about the new design and the business services. opus:creative's contributions are highlighted in the footer of the website.
Robert's Thoughts
This project was challenging because it was pro-bono and was for an internal client. Some of the directors were on the board for the PAF organization. The representatives for PAF were easy to work with in retrospect. But the internal team was challenging to keep on scope and within the internal budget. I also had to provide support for the technology team. They didn't have Coldfusion or MySQL experience. So I had to review the source code and provide feedback and documentation on the business rules that the previous build of the system performed.
